Colon cancer is the third most common cause of male and female cancer death in the US, with over 100,000 new cases every year. It is a type of cancer that begins its growth in the large intestine.
In its early stages, symptoms of colon cancer are frequently misdiagnosed as other conditions such as IBS, making this type of cancer much harder to detect. Diagnosing it early in its growth hugely increases your chances of survival, so it is important to be aware of any symptoms that may indicate that you are suffering from colon cancer.
Diarrhea
Diarrhea, like constipation, is caused by the colon tumor causing disruption in the intestine and digestive process.
It is also another symptom often overlooked due to the fact it has many different causes. If diarrhea is experienced alongside other symptoms – like constipation – seek help and a potential screening.
